Managing Director - Construction Project Management

Job Description:

Position Summary

Responsible for leading, directing, and overseeing all construction project management operations across the organization. This role ensures that all projects are delivered on time, within budget, in compliance with safety and quality standards, and aligned with the company’s strategic objectives. The MD provides leadership to project teams, ensures effective stakeholder communication, and drives operational excellence in construction management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement long-term strategies for construction project management operations
  • Lead and manage all project directors, project managers, engineering teams, and support departments
  • Oversee planning, budgeting, and resource allocation for all construction projects
  • Ensure alignment between project activities and organizational goals
  • Ensure all projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and meet required quality standards
  • Review and approve project plans, schedules, designs, and budget projections
  • Monitor project performance through KPIs, progress reports, and site inspections
  • Provide high-level guidance on technical, financial, and operational issues
  • Oversee project budgets, cost control systems, and financial forecasts
  • Review and approve contracts, tenders, procurement plans, and vendor agreements
  • Ensure effective negotiation with contractors, suppliers, and consultants to secure best value
  • Identify and manage project risks, issues, and opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations, building codes, safety standards, and company policies
  • Promote a strong culture of safety, environmental protection, and quality assurance
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, government authorities, contractors, and key stakeholders
  • Represent the company in high-level meetings, negotiations, and public engagements
  • Provide clear status updates to the Board of Directors and executive leadership
  • Build, mentor, and develop a high-performance project management team
  • Set performance targets, conduct evaluations, and ensure staff capability development
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field
  • MBA or Executive Management certification is an advantage
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in construction project management
  • At least 8 years in senior leadership roles
  • Proven track record managing large-scale construction projects (commercial, residential, infrastructure, industrial, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, project controls, and contract administration
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, cost management, and financial planning
  • Strong leadership and people management capability
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making ability
  • High integrity, professionalism, and resilience under pressure
