Temporary WASH Specialist

Job Description:

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating the identification of WASH humanitarian needs, and trends in the donor landscape to maintain strategic focus and balanced programming
  • Providing technical and project management support to local partner organisations and subawardees in their implementation of WASH activities
  • Assisting the Head of Department for monitoring, evaluation, and learning (HoD MEAL) in the development, implementation, and refinement of a robust monitoring, evaluation, and learning system
  • Regular field and base visits to projects and functional interaction with PMs/DyPM, systematic visit reports with recommendations disseminated
  • Promotion of transparency and ethical standards in projects by highlighting complaints & feedback mechanisms, particularly in respect of the beneficiary population, in consultation with the MEAL department
  • Integrating gender, age, disability, protection mainstreaming, etc. into WASH project implementation and reporting
  • Representing the organization in sectoral coordination at national and sub-national levels (sectoral and/or cluster, technical working groups) and with the local authorities and/or governmental line departments
  • Developing WASH competencies throughout the country programme
  • Design and deliver technical and programme management training to WASH team and partners if needed
  • Demonstrate personal commitment in promoting Gender Equality and Gender Minimum Standards within the humanitarian and/or development work

 

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in water resource management, environment, civil engineering, or related field complemented by significant experience in resilience/WASH-related field
  • At least 5 years of field experience with a humanitarian NGO in the WASH sector
  • At least 2 to 3 years of experience in the same or similar positions; field-based experience in a similar role required
  • Experience working in camps and rural contexts
  • Experience with strategy, proposal, log frame, and theory of change development
  • Experience in working with local partners
  • Extensive experience working with coordination mechanisms, including the cluster system
  • Experience working on the Myanmar crisis or in the sub-region is preferable but not mandatory
  • Action Against Hunger experience a plus but not mandatory
  • Proficiency in spoken English and excellent written English abilities – knowledge of Rakhine is a plus
