Job Description:
Responsibilities
- Control the operation of your unit and team by ensuring SAPS requirements and all policy and procedures are followed
- Stop unsafe behaviours when observed
- Regularly inspect the work area for hazards and safety compliance
- Recognise safe behaviour and promote within your work group
- Seek opportunities to improve safety performance
- Know, understand and enforce safety laws, standards and practices
- Set an example for fellow workers to follow by implementing the SAPS System in unit/team
- Discuss the safety aspects of all operations with co-workers and the importance of workplace health and safety as per SAPS
- Ensure that safety is included in all worker departmental inductions and job training sessions
- Ensure that every worker required to undertake any task has adequate job training and safety instructions given and recorded and that standard work procedures are adhered to
- Investigate all incidents to determine causes and what corrective action is required
- Instruct workers in the safe use of personal protective equipment issued
- Ensure that first aid locations, fire protection equipment, evacuation procedure and other emergency procedures are made known to all workers under control
- Ensure all equipment tests and inspections are complied with as required by law and highlighted in the SAPS and Standard Operation Practice manuals
Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications And Skills
- Certificate or Diploma in Engineering (trade) or business
- 3 years minimum operational experience in industrial facilities in areas such as maintenance, production, distribution and industrial safety. Petroleum industry terminals operations experience will be an added advantage
- Regulatory knowledge – Port, Customs, Licensing
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- ISO 9000 knowledge will be an added advantage
- Communicable level in English
- Leadership and management skills
